Rotary District 5170 is pleased to announce Ramesh Hariharan, Past District Governor 2019-20, has been honored and recognized by Proclamation of the City of East Palo Alto for his exemplary service and leadership to the East Palo Alto community.
 
He was honored by Mayor Regina Wallace-Jones and the City Council, along with many tributes and accolades from fellow Rotarians, friends and family.
“We are pleased to honor and recognize Ramesh Hariharan for his service, leadership and problem solving,” said Mayor Regina Wallace-Jones. “District Governor Ramesh and his wife Sobha Ramesh, who is a Past-President of the Rotary Club of East Palo Alto Bayshore, continue to stay deeply involved in serving the communities in East Palo Alto. They serve in the true spirit of Rotary, Service above Self, always with a smile,” she added.
“East Palo Alto has a special place in my heart,” said PDG Ramesh Hariharan.  “In Rotary, together we see where people unite and most importantly, we strive to make communities better with volunteering and service,” he added.
 

ABOUT PDG RAMESH HARIHARAN

Ramesh Hariharan started as a Rotarian in year 2000 in San Jose and moved to East Palo Alto Bayshore in 2013 and grew the club membership from 14 for 51 members. Way back in the year 2016, Ramesh was instrumental in chartering a Passport Club, ushering in a new and innovative concept in District 5170.
 
In Rotary year 2019-20, Ramesh led District 5170 for the highest membership growth in the U.S, and the highest contribution for the Foundation in the world. Ramesh and his wife Sobha Ramesh are members of the Arch Klumph Society.
 
Ramesh also introduced several other successful initiatives during his year as Governor: The Business Expo for networking Rotary businesses, International Expo for showcasing various International projects that were celebrated with a cultural extravaganza, starting a Climate Change Action Group to tackle critical environmental issues, etc.
